Mount Kilimanjaro’s glaciers are disappearing because of a combination of climate change, reduced snowfall, and increased ice loss through sublimation. Since 1912, the mountain has lost more than 90% of its ice cover, shrinking from approximately 11.4 square kilometres to less than one square kilometre today.
